Harry Potter Movie

PRE PRODUCTION
I am in a group with lochie, ness and Gabbie. We decided to do a scene out of Harry Potter, because we knew it off by heart. It was a good experience, learning how to draw a story board and learn the lines. The scene we remade was when Ron and Hermione first meets harry on the train to Hogwarts.

PRODUCTION
We decided to film in the library because it had the ideal space to portray a train. We had a lot of fun filming, Lochie looked ridiculous as the trolley lady. We filmed each individual camera angle, because it's easier than continuously moving the camera around. We had to do it pretty quickly because Ness wasn't going to be there the next week.

POST PRODUCTION
The editing was a really fun part, considering most of us had never done it before. Me and Ness did the voice overs for the music, and it was hilarious. The editing went really quickly, Gabbie did a really good job. The bloopers were a lot of fun to edit and post. I learned a lot of new skills with iMovie.

COMPARE THE TEXTS

What are the similarities between the two films? Include characters, plot, costume, setting and themes?
Clueless and The Breakfast club are similar in a lot of ways. Both of the plots contain love, new friendship, and trust. The characters are also similar as well, like Claire and Cher were both the pretty girls. Tai, in a way, is also like Allision. Both very weird and keep to themselves a bit. Murray, Dionne's boyfriend, is a Jock, like Andrew. The settings both include a high school, and the themes are also similar.

What are the differences between the two films? Include characters, plot, costume, setting and themes?
There aren't the 'typical obvious' stereotypes in Clueless that are in The Breakfast Club. Looking at the characters in The Breakfast Club, you can tell what stereotype they belong to. But in Clueless, you have to get to know the characters a bit more before you can determine where they belong. There are more different settings in Clueless than there are in The Breakfast Club, and obviously the plot has to be different.

THE BREAKFAST CLUB

After watching The Breakfast Club please answer these questions on your blog using complete sentences. This task must be completed in class.

Write a sentence about each of the five student characters. Brian, Claire, Allision, Andrew & John.
Brian - Brian is the nerd guy. He has a very kind heart and a consciousness. He had a flare gun in his locker.
Claire - Claire is the pretty girl. She is a popular girl. She eventually goes for John, the bad guy, even though she find him repulsive at the beginning of the movie.
Allision - She is the weird one. She always moves quick, and she looks emo. She opens up to Claire, and she gets a makeover and looks pretty. She then goes for Andrew.
Andrew - Andrew is the Jock guy. He also has a pretty big consciousness. He doesn't like doing things just to gain popularity.
John - John is the criminal. He's the bad guy. He has a bad attitude and was bought up in a bad home.

How do the students feel about each other at the start of the film? How and why does this change?
At the start of the film they hate each other. And it's awkward because they don't know each other. But eventually they all open up to each other and become friends. At the end of the movie, there are even couples.

What is the plot of The Breakfast Club?
Five kids from five different groups all end up together at detention. They don't know each other. There's your typical stereotypes in the group, like Jock, Pretty girl, Weirdo, Criminal and Nerd. Mr. Vernan was the teacher that looked after them in detention. He was a bit of an asshole. He wanted them all in the same room, despite their clashing personalities, and to shut up. They all hate each other at the start, but as the movie evolves they all open up to each other and become close mates. They tell each other their secrets. At the end of the movie there are couples, like John and Claire, and Andrew and Allision.

What are the costumes worn by the following characters: Brian, Claire, Allision, Andrew & John.
Brian - Brians clothes are very neat, and ordinary. No daggy pants or ripped shirts, but clean clothes.
Claire - Typical pretty girl clothes, consisting of light pinks and whites.
Allision - Very gothic clothes, all black or grey, and a very long coat that hides her.
Andrew - Jock clothes, like jeans and a sports jumper.
John - Plaid shirts, jeans, leather jackets.

Where is the film set? Include all sub settings.
School - Hallways, detention room (library), in the roof (when John crawls along), principals office, storage room.
Outside - Outside of the school

List and briefly describe the issues and themes raised during the film? How are they similar/different to other teen films you have watched?
Love in odd places - You would never have thought Claire would've fallen for John, because at the start of the movie they sort of hated each other.
Popularity - When they are talking to each other and telling their secrets, Andrew and Claire say they wouldn't be friends with the others because they are popular and the others are not.
Sex - If you're a virgin, you're prude, if you're not, you're a slut.
It's the same in other teen films, because these are common problems amongst teenagers and they can relate to them.

Does this film appeal to you? Why or why not?
Yeah it does because it was a pretty interesting film, the way they all eventually opened up and became friends.
